Request a journey

You can make a booking request by calling our team on 01923 216964 or emailing communitycars@w3rt.org.  The booking line is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm. Outside of these hours you can leave a message on our answering machine and we will get back to you the following day.

All of our drivers are volunteers and it can take us time to find a volunteer available for a particular journey. We typically require a minimum of one weeks’ notice for booking requests but please try to provide us with as much notice as possible as this means that we are more likely to be able to find a driver for you.

Our drivers are available for journeys during the day from Monday to Friday. Occasionally we are able to meet one-off requests for transport in the evenings and weekends. If you have a routine weekly or monthly appointment, for example going to the hairdressers, visiting a friend or shopping, we can arrange a regular car for you, usually with the same driver.

We accept booking requests from individuals as well as referrals from family members, carers and professionals.

When requesting a journey our bookings team require the following information:

  • The passengers full name
  • Name of person booking the journey (if different to above)
  • Pick-up address (including postcode)
  • Time of your appointment and requested pick-up time
  • Destination address (including postcode)
  • If a return journey is required we will need a pick-up time and a return address (including postcode)
  • Details of any mobility aids such as a wheelchair, walking frame or guide dog etc.
  • Any other information that you feel is relevant to the journey

Charges are based on mileage travelled by your driver for a round trip starting and finishing at their home address. The charge will include the full journey from their home address, to your pick up location, to your drop off point and the return to their home address. Please note that we won’t charge for waiting time of up to an hour but if your driver needs to make a double journey we ask you to pay the cost of the mileage covered.

We endeavor to meet all journey requests. We will phone you to confirm your journey has been booked as soon as we have found a driver. Please note that your journey is not confirmed until we have called you to provide details of your drivers name etc. We will let you know at least 48 hours in advance if we are unable to find a driver for your journey so that you can make alternative arrangements.
